Software Team Lead - Nigeria

We’re looking for a software team lead to help us build and maintain the teams supporting our distributed, country-scale logistics and program intelligence systems.

As a team lead, you will primarily be responsible for guiding and mentoring junior devs in their work, ensuring a high quality of code from your team, evaluating new hires, planning work with other teams and product managers, and ultimately ensuring timely and reliable delivery of work for your team.

As a team lead you'll help to identify and advocate for software design patterns and practices with the wider team, to address the unique challenges of distributed, offline-first systems for emerging markets. You will work closely with other developers in Berlin and Nigeria, supporting each other and collaborating through frequent code reviews and strong adherence to best practices, as we develop tools to shape health supply chains at scale in some of the fastest growing places in the world.

Required

  • 6+ years professional experience building and maintaining live enterprise systems

  • Professional experience with client- and server-side Javascript, and document-oriented databases (CouchDB, AWS, React experience all a plus but not critical)

  • Excellent communication skills including experience working in cross-cultural settings

  • A deep curiosity about information architecture, design patterns, and critical evaluation of new technologies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong interest in people management

  • MS/BA/BS in computer science, or comparable work experience

  • Team-oriented, learning-oriented, not a cowboy

  • Location: Abuja/Lagos (relocation assistance available)

  • Language skills: English (fluent)

Bonus

  • Experience in project management
  • Experience with data-driven decision-support systems
  • Experience in designing for offline-first solutions or environments with unstable internet connections
  • Experience with supply chain
  • Experience in remote work with distributed teams
  • Desire to travel
If this sounds like a place you'd like to come to work, we humbly suggest we could do some great things together. Please get in touch with a CV or portfolio.
